Visiting Professor Tony Graham said “Liverpool John Moores University decided to launch the Mastering Shipbuilding Management course because of the economic boom in shipbuilding activity and the self-evident demand for educational events to support the aims of the National Shipbuilding Strategy. Shipbuilding is amongst the most complex traditional crafts, since it is associated with and draws from broad and diverse fields of knowledge and skills. The ongoing revolution and scale of modern shipbuilding also gives rise to high-risk developmental projects and very complex management tasks. Shipbuilders gain their practical knowledge of shipbuilding management through working experience which is often localised and constrained. The Mastering Shipbuilding Management Course will support attendees in understanding the wider shipbuilding market, management trends, technology developments and good practice migrating from other sectors. The course is also well suited to shipbuilding stakeholders (customers. suppliers, and government officials) who want to understand the industry better. We hope it will inspire the sectors emerging talent to build a truly globally competitive industry”
