Now accepting applications for the limited third intake!

The Association of British Columbia Marine Industries (ABCMI) is excited to launch the limited third intake of the BC Maritime industries Infrastructure Modernization and Expansion Grant Program after the tremendous success of our first & second intake. The primary objective of this program is to modernize and expand maritime dry dock and wharfage infrastructure capacity across the province. By enhancing competitiveness for local businesses and providing opportunities to secure federal and commercial contracts, these projects will drive economic growth and create more employment opportunities for British Columbians.

For this last limited intake, the Grant Program offers non-repayable funding contributions through a capital investment stream (described as Stream 1 in our Program Guide) that provides up to 50% of capital costs, with a maximum of $500,000, for equipment and facility modernization or new small vessel construction infrastructure.  Funds are limited for this third intake of the Grant Program and it is anticipated that only 4 – 6 projects will be approved.

We encourage interested parties to visit the ABCMI Website for detailed application guidelines and further information.

As part of the B.C. Maritime Industries Strategy, 17 companies throughout the province will modernize and expand their maritime infrastructure with funding from the B.C. Maritime Industries Infrastructure Modernization and Expansion Grant Program. Delivered by the Association of British Columbia Marine Industries (ABCMI), this initiative is committed to revitalizing and expanding local B.C. businesses to be more competitive and efficient with a funding commitment of up to $25 million from the Province of British Columbia.

“British Columbia’s maritime industry has a proud history and a strong future here in B.C.,” said Brenda Bailey, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation. “Our government is committed to supporting maritime companies to be competitive in the global economy, so they can grow, spark innovation and create more well-paying jobs throughout our province.”

The program offers up to $25 million in contributions through two capital investment streams. Stream 1 provides 50% of project capital costs up to $500,000 for equipment and facility modernization support for boat and shipyards or new small vessel construction infrastructure. Stream 2 offers 25% of project capital costs up to $5 million for increased lift and wharfage capacity, specifically for boat and ship overhaul, refit, maintenance, and repair infrastructure.
