    The Robert Allan Memorial Scholarship award is open for applications until June 30, 2024.

    The Robert Allan Memorial Scholarship was created in 1982 by a bequest from the late Robert F. Allan with additional support from his friends and colleagues. Robert Allan Ltd. is now also actively supporting the scholarship through additional contributions and the fund is administered by a committee of senior principals of Robert Allan Ltd.

    The scholarship is awarded every year to the most deserving Canadian Citizen or Canadian Permanent Resident studying Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.

    The total award value is currently up to $5,000 per year.

    These new vessels will complement the existing eight Robert Allan Ltd. see more

    Egypt’s South Red Sea Shipyard has awarded Vancouver, B.C.-based Robert Allan Ltd. a contract for the design of 10 RAstar 3200-W ASD tugs to be built for the Suez Canal Authority. These new vessels build on the success of the RAstar 3200-W series of azimuthing stern drive tugs, 20 of which are already in service worldwide.

    On completion of this contract, the Suez Canal Authority will own and operate over 20 Robert Allan Ltd. designed tugs, all of which are high-performance ASD tugs. These new vessels will complement the existing eight Robert Allan Ltd. designed tugs currently working in Egypt for commercial operators.

    Funding of $150,000 will help Robert Allan Ltd. implement a quiet propeller and propulsion system in conjunction with an innovative tool to evaluate and predict underwater vessel noise from escort tugs. This tool could help vessel owner-operators understand and predict the underwater noise being generated by their tugs, and to implement effective mitigation strategies.
